Universal has begun the search for the Invisible Man

Image A month ago, there was a rumor in Hollywood that the star of the spy thriller "Agents A.N.K.L." Armie Hammer may play Batman in the upcoming DC superhero solo album. Today it became known that the actor claims to participate in another high-profile film project. Hollywood insiders say Universal is considering Hammer for the lead role in the new adaptation of HG Wells' novel The Invisible Man.

Initially, the film was supposed to be part of a large-scale cinematic universe, but the weak performance of the film "The Mummy" forced the management of Universal to reconsider plans for the development of the franchise. As a result, the studio bosses threw themselves into the creation of a series of solo films of Dracula, the Wolf Man and other movie monsters not related to the general plot. In this regard, the company decided to abandon the services of Johnny Depp, who had been assigned to the role of the Invisible Man since February 2016.

Casting for the project began earlier this month, when it became known that the star of the series "The Handmaid's Tale" Elisabeth Moss was invited to the main female role in the film. Now the casting experts have begun looking for a performer for the title role. Rumor has it that either Hammer or Alexander Skarsgard (Tarzan Legend) will become the new Invisible Man.

According to insiders, the actors are fighting for the role of billionaire Adrian Griffin, who will receive an order from the US Department of Defense to create ultra-modern transparent camouflage for soldiers. Judging by this information, only the title runs the risk of leaving Wells's famous work in the picture.

The Invisible Man's filming team, led by director Lee Whannell (Astral 3), is expected to begin work this May.
