Universal Pictures has not abandoned its long-standing plans - to present popular villains from their archives to new generations of viewers. According to Deadline, the next in turn is the Invisible Man, whose role Johnny Depp agreed to play.

The first movie adaptation of the famous work of H.G. Wells was released in 1933. The role of the genius scientist Jack Griffin, who made his body invisible, and eventually turned into a real monster, was played by actor Claude Raines. Despite the death of the main character in the finale, the picture became the starting point for a whole series of movies on this topic.

At the time of this writing, it was not known whether the new "Invisible Man" would become a literal adaptation of Wells's work, or a completely independent project. The director and screenwriter of the movie were also not appointed. The movie is likely to premiere in 2018.

Recall that the first tape in the new series dedicated to the monsters of Universal will be a remake of "The Mummy", in which Tom Cruise will play the main role. The project will be presented to viewers in 2017.

As for Johnny Depp, in 2016 he appeared on the screens as the Mad Hatter in the movie "Alice Through the Looking Glass".
