Johnny Depp invited to the Monster Cinematic Universe
Studio Universal continues to invite top-notch Hollywood stars to its cinematic universe. Last month we wrote that the cast of the new version of "The Mummy" will be led by Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella, and today the publication The Hollywood Reporter announced the completion of the casting for the role of The Invisible Man ... Three-time Oscar nominee Johnny Depp will portray the iconic character in the novel by H.G. Wells.Universal management decided to give new life to its popular film monsters in the summer of 2014. Shortly thereafter, the studio bosses assembled a stellar team of writers, led by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, to create a roadmap for the franchise. It is rumored that Ed Solomon (Men in Black, Illusion of Deception) is working on the plot of " The Invisible Man ". Wells' novel was published in 1897. Its main character is the scientist Griffin , who has experienced the formula of invisibility. However, he soon found out that his revolutionary discovery had a number of side effects. In 1933, Universal studio brought the heroes of the novel to the big screen. The Invisible Man by James Whale was included in the classic horror series of the Hollywood major, and eight years ago, the US Library of Congress included it on the National Register of Cultural and Historical Films .  The new Universal franchise will open with a reboot of Mummies , which is scheduled to premiere on June 9, 2017 . Insiders do not yet undertake to claim that " The Invisible Man " will be the second film of the MCU. In the studio's release schedule, the date March 30, 2018 is empty, but in addition to the new adaptation of the famous novel Wells , tapes about Frankenstein , Dracula , The Wolfman and Van Helsinge .  It is expected that each of the monsters will receive a solo film, after which they will gather in a team similar to the Avengers. In this regard, it is highly likely that Depp's contract with Universal is designed for several films at once. The actor's track record already includes several popular franchises.
