Will Venom get a sequel?

Image Sony has been creating a universe about the enemies and friends of Spider-Man for years, despite the fact that the major no longer has the rights to Spidey himself. In the end, the studio's efforts paid off with interest: "Venom" became a hit in the box office, despite criticism directed at him. This gave Sony bosses confidence, and they set two release dates for the Marvel Comics films at once.

According to the information site Variety, one of the blockbusters, which is the original film, will premiere on July 10, 2020, while the other is a sequel, and it will be released in theaters on October 2, 2020. Sony has not officially disclosed the names of these films yet, but there are few options in this case.

It can be said with almost complete certainty that the tape with the July premiere date is Morbius. Back in October, producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmak confirmed that the film about a living vampire will follow Venom. The film adaptation is directed by Daniel Espinosa ("Alive"), and the main role is assigned to Jared Leto. In graphic novels, Dr. Michael Morbius is a Nobel laureate, biochemist suffering from a rare blood disorder. Due to experimental treatments that included the use of bats and electric shock, he turned into a vampire. And while Morbius is not nearly as popular as Venom, Sony is not afraid to bet on him.

If the picture about Morbius gets to the big screens in July, then in October the audience will see a sequel to some kind of movie comic strip. There are only two options: the continuation will receive either the animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Universes" or "Venom". And since Sony is unlikely to launch the second part of the cartoon, which has not even been released yet, the more obvious contender for the sequel is an alien symbiote.

"Venom" grossed $ 780 million at the worldwide box office, despite the fact that most critics smashed it to smithereens. Long before the premiere of the blockbuster, Tom Hardy admitted that his contract meant appearing in at least three films. Moreover, the actor would be happy to star in a sequel and does not deny that a sequel to Venom could receive an R rating.
