”Summer” Serebrennikov will go to Cannes
The 71st Cannes Film Festival, which will take place this year from 8 to 19 May, will feature films by directors from Japan, the United States, South Korea, France, Italy, Egypt and other countries. Now, on the official Twitter of the event, there was a message about the inclusion of the USA biographical film "Summer" by Kirill Serebrennikov in the main program."Leta" touches upon the history of the birth of the underground rock scene in the USSR and little-known facts from the life of the legendary Viktor Tsoi. The film will also show the relationship between the leader of the "Kino" group with Mike Naumenko and his companion Natalia. The main role went to the Korean actor Teo Yu, the frontman of the "Beasts" group Roman Bilyk embodied the image of Naumenko on the screen, his wife was played by Irina Starshenbaum. The spouses of Idov and Serebrennikov himself worked on the script, and the financial part fell on the shoulders of Ilya Stewart, Mikhail Finogenov and Pavel Buri. The work on Summer was really difficult. The director began filming in July last year, but the next month he was arrested on charges of embezzling public funds. Now Serebrennikov is under house arrest, which today, April 12, the investigation asked to extend for another three months.  Serebrennikov's film should appear in wide USA distribution this summer.
