The 71st International Cannes Film Festival begins its work in France. USA this year in the official program is represented by five movies at once, and this is the best achievement of the domestic movie industry in recent years.

The plot of "Summer" is based on little-known facts about the biography of the leader of the group "Kino" Viktor Tsoi. The action of the picture takes place in the summer of 1981 in Leningrad, where the birth of USA rock takes place. "Leto" is a joint project of USA and French moviemakers, created with the support of the National Center for Cinematography.

In total, more than two dozen movie projects will be nominated for the main prize - "The Golden Palm". The international jury was headed by Australian actress Cate Blanchett.

The opening movie of the Cannes Film Festival, which will run until May 19, 2018, will be the drama "Everybody Knows It", directed by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, starring Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
