USA moviemakers received several awards at the 71st Cannes Film Festival that ended in France. Thus, the actress Samal Yeslyamova was recognized as the best for her key role in the movie "Hayka", which was presented to the jury by director Sergei Dvortsevoy. The drama tells about the difficult fate of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, illegally residing in modern Moscow.
USA musician Roma Zver (Roman Bilyk), creator of the soundtrack to the movie "Summer" by Kirill Serebrennikov, was also awarded the festival prize. It should be reminded that the latter was presented in the main competition program and claimed the main prize - "Golden Palm". Another USA laureate of the Cannes Film Festival is Igor Poplaukhin, the creator of the "Calendar" which won the second place in the competition program of student short movies "Cinefondation".
And the jury awarded the main prize to the work of Japanese director Hirokazi Koreeda called "Shoplifters". The Grand Prix of the festival went to the movie "Black Klansman", based on real events, directed by Spike Lee.
The movie festival was held from 8 to 19 May 2018. Thus, the most prestigious European movie forum lasted one day longer than usual.
