Giancarlo Esposito will go to the DC Universe
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul Giancarlo Esposito, who portrayed Gustavo Fring, was cast in a supporting role in the upcoming Disney superhero show Stargirl, Deadline reports. He joined Karan Braer (Pacific Rim 2), Darby Stanchfield (Scandal) and Maximiliano Hernandez (The Avengers). The role of the title character will be performed by aspiring actress Grace Vanderwall.The series, based on the novel of the same name by Jerry Spinelli, tells the story of an awkward teenager Leo Borlock, for whom Stargirl will become a ray of light in a sea of school problems. Esposito will play a paleontologist named Archie, a friend of Stargirl and Leo. The show will be directed by Julia Hart (Miss Stevens), scripted by budding writer Christine Hahn. Jordan Horowitz, Lee Stallman and Ellen Goldsmith-Wayne have taken over the production. Filming begins this month in New Mexico.
