New West Side Story Finds Two Officers
The Strain star Corey Stoll and Brian D'Arcy James (13 Reasons Why) have signed on to star in the West Side Story remake directed by Steven Spielberg. Both actors are known not only for their roles in films and on TV, but also on the stage, and James is a three-time nominee for the prestigious Tony Theater Award.The action of the musical is set in New York of the 50s, and in the center of the plot is a tragic love story that arose against the backdrop of a feud between two gangs. Tony's young boyfriend, once in the Rockets, a gang of white immigrants, falls in love with Maria, the sister of the leader of the Sharks, a warring Puerto Rican gang. A conflict breaks out between the factions, which cannot end in anything good. Corey is reported to play Lieutenant Schrenk, a tough police detective accused of suppressing racial riots in his precinct. Brian d'Arcy James will be reincarnated as Sergeant Krupka. The leading roles in the remake went to Ansel Elgort and debutante Rachel Zegler, chosen from 30 thousand applicants.
