Doctor Who Screenwriter Takes Up New Gormenghast
Toby Whitehouse, who has worked on Doctor Who and Being Human, will write the script for the new Gormenghast television project, Deadline reports. He will also co-produce the TV show alongside Neil Gaiman (American Gods) and Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind).The plot will be based on the fantasy trilogy of Mervyn Peak, which tells the story of the colorful inhabitants of the gloomy castle Gormenghast - the heir to the noble family Titus Groan, the villain Steerpike, twin sisters Kore and Clarisse and others. The trilogy includes the novels Titus Groan, Gormenghast and The Loneliness of Titus. What events from them will be transferred to the screens has not yet been reported. As it became known earlier, the TV show will focus on political intrigue. The upcoming project will mark the second attempt at filming Peak's fantasy since the 2000 BBC miniseries Dark Kingdom, starring Jonathan Reese Myers and Christopher Lee.
