Image Film company Sony is ready to send audiences to the world of fashion, hip-hop and gangsta rap. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Hollywood studio has acquired the rights to film the memoirs of legendary couturier Dapper Dan.

The Harlem tailor's name became widely known in the 1980s when he opened his own tailor shop on 125th Street in Manhattan. Dapper became famous for high-quality imitations of clothes of such world famous brands as Gucci, Fendi and Louis Vuitton. By the beginning of the next decade, he was dressing dozens of movie, music and sports stars.

One of Dan's regular customers was the famous boxer Mike Tyson, who once got into a fight right on the doorstep of his boutique. The incident hit newspapers and drew the attention of fashion leaders to Dapper's business. They bombarded Dan with lawsuits, which forced him to close his atelier in 1992.

It seemed that Dapper had sunk into oblivion, but last year his name again made headlines. Feather sharks suspected that Gucci had stolen the design of the bomber jacket Dan sewed in 1989 for Olympic champion Diana Dixon. The bosses of the Italian fashion house had no choice but to offer the Harlem couturier a cooperation agreement and help him reopen his atelier on 125th Street.

Dapper Dan's memoirs hit bookstore shelves next year. Screenwriter and stand-up comedian Jerrod Carmichael (The Carmichael Show) will adapt them for the big screen.
