The same Robocop
The upcoming reboot of the Robocop franchise continues to gain points in the eyes of moviegoers. In January of this year, it became known that the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer project would be a direct sequel to the original film series and would not take into account its controversial sequels. A couple more good news came from MGM last month. The original script for RoboCop Returns was written by the original authors Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner, and Oscar-nominated Neil Blomkamp (District 9) will be in the director's chair for the action movie. Now fans of the franchise have another reason to add the movie to the waiting list.Musician Dimitri Tivios tweeted yesterday that he has once again revisited the original action movie by Paul Verhoeven. After that, the DJ asked the subscribers who should play Robocop in the new film of the franchise. After some time, Neil Blomkamp unexpectedly appeared in the discussion thread, who gave a laconic answer: "Peter Weller". At one time, the role of Robocop in the 1987 film brought Weller a nomination for an Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Film Awards. Peter returned to the role of police officer Alex Murphy in the sequel, but refused to participate in the third part, which was defeated by critics and crashed at the box office.  Neil Blomkamp is clearly eager to bring Weller back into the franchise. Either he sees Alex Murphy as the main character in the picture, or he wants him to transfer the title of Detroit's main defender to another hero.
