Judge Dredd will receive reinforcements
After the creators of the action movie "Judge Dredd 3D" failed to find funds to fund the sequel, the Rebellion Corporation decided that the famous hero of the 2000 AD comics should try his luck on television. Last spring, the British company announced the series "Judge Dredd: Mega-City", which will tell about the working life of police officers in the giant metropolis of the future. The owners of Rebellion realized that there is no better way to monitor the progress of work on an ambitious project than to open your own film and television department.As it became known to the Variety edition, the Oxford company has acquired several buildings of the former printing factory, which once belonged to the famous Daily Mail tabloid. The total area of the complex is over 20 thousand square meters. Since the buildings are already equipped with sound insulation and noise absorption systems, Rebellion will avoid the hassle of additional paperwork. It is expected that the redevelopment of the premises for filming pavilions and workshops for the production of scenery, costumes and props will take only a few weeks. The deal is estimated at $ 100 million. According to preliminary forecasts, the new studio will create jobs for at least 500 people. Rebellion was founded in 1992 and was originally a video game development company. Eight years later, her bosses bought out the character rights for the 2000 AD science fiction magazine and made their debut in the publishing business. Now the British corporation has to open a new page in its history.  Apparently, "Mega-City" will be the first series filmed in the brand new pavilions of its own film studio, Rebellion. According to company executives, they already have several other projects in development based on 2000 AD comics. One of them will be a film adaptation of the Rogue Trooper graphic novel about a genetically modified super-soldier capable of resisting all known types of chemical and biological weapons.
