Amazon will travel to the Second Age of Middle-earth
In late 2017, the online service Amazon acquired the rights to create a series based on the fantasy universe of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings". The leaders of the streaming service did not try to outdo the famous film series by Peter Jackson and decided to create its prequel. Initially, it was supposed that the series will tell about the adventures of young Aragorn, and its action will unfold several decades before the events of the trilogy. Today it became known that insiders made a mistake in their predictions: Amazon will take viewers to much more distant times.The official Twitter of the TV project published a map of Middle-earth, which was accompanied by the words "Welcome to the Second Age" and a poem about the Ring of Omnipotence. It looks like the events of the series will unfold several thousand years before the Fellowship of the Ring went to Mordor to destroy Sauron's main weapon. According to the chronology of Tolkien's universe, the Second Age began with the victory of the inhabitants of Middle-earth over the dark lord Morgoth. Unfortunately for humans, elves, gnomes and other inhabitants of the wizarding world, a new rival, Sauron, soon came up against them. 1600 years after the beginning of the Second Age, the ruler of Mordor forged the Ring of Omnipotence and completed the construction of the Barad-Dur fortress. In total, this stage in the life of Middle-earth spanned 3441 years and ended with a large-scale battle between the troops of Sauron and the army of the Last Alliance of Men and Elves.
