The famous British actor Ian McKellen is ready to play the wizard Gandalf again in the television series "The Lord of the Rings", which is going to be movieed by Amazon. He himself spoke about this on the TV program Graham Norton's BBC Radio 2.

"What other Gandalf? I have not yet given my consent, as no one has asked me about it yet. But you think that he should be played by someone else? As far as I know, Gandalf is 7000 years old, and I'm not that old yet, "he said.

Note that very little is known about the content of the project. The series will be produced in partnership with Amazon Studios, the Tolkien Estate, which controls the writer's legacy, and HarperCollins. It is possible that the series will become a spin-off of "The Lord of the Rings" or a direct prequel. In the latter case, Gandalf the Gray will indeed be able to appear in it.

Recall that Amazon acquired the rights to movie the works of J.R.R. Tolkien in November 2017. The deal is valued at $ 250 million. The timing of work on a series based on these works has not yet been specified.

Previously, viewers were presented with two full-length trilogies dedicated to dramatic events in Middle-earth. Both were directed by Peter Jackson.
