It looks like movie fans can say goodbye to their dream of seeing a new meeting between Los Angeles detective James Carter and Hong Kong police inspector Yang Lee. There are rumors on the Web that the Rush Hour franchise will follow the path of Ghostbusters and Ocean's Eleven: instead of the next sequel, a reboot awaits the audience, in which Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan will be replaced by the fair sex.Carter and Lee were last investigated in 2007 in Rush Hour 3. Oddly enough, one of the main culprits for the fact that the fourth part of the film series never saw the light of day was Chris Tucker. After the success of the franchise's two starter films, the actor knocked himself out a fantastic deal - $ 25 million in royalties and 20% of the triquel's box office. As a result, the budget of the third part soared to $ 140 million by the standards of a buddy movie.  Rush Hour 3 was unable to cover production costs, but a couple of years ago, producers began to consider the idea of reanimating the franchise. Hope of seeing the old crew return dwindled when longtime filmmaker Brett Ratner was accused of inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment. Although Rush Hour remains a pretty high-profile brand, its owners are unlikely to be able to provide the new film with a nine-figure budget and pull the royalties of Chan and Tucker. In this regard, it would be logical on the part of the producers to try to restart the film series with new actors and a moderate budget. Rumor has it that the management of STX Entertainment is already in talks with Chinese Bingbing Li (Meg: Monster of the Depth), who will replace Jackie Chan in the project.
