Being Hercule Poirot

Image Last year, thanks to the efforts of Kenneth Branagh, the famous detective Hercule Poirot visited cinemas. The $ 351 million earned by Murder on the Orient Express was enough for 20th Century Fox to launch a sequel to the film. The second part, based on the novel Death on the Nile, will be released next year, and by then the Belgian played by Brana will have a serious competitor on the small screens.

As the portal Variety found out, the BBC channel and the online service Amazon will join forces with Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited to film the novel "Alphabetical Murders", the main character of which is Hercule Poirot. His role went to two-time Oscar nominee John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich). The new series will consist of three episodes, and the producers will not limit themselves to adapting one work about Poirot: they have six more projects in their plans.

In Agatha Christie's book, Hercule Poirot takes on the case of a serial killer who calls himself ABC. The criminal warns Poirot about another death every time, but the detective and the police arrive too late, and the only piece of evidence that can tell the identity of the killer is a railway directory found at the scene of each crime. Alphabetical Murders first hit the big screens back in 1965. The novel also formed the basis for one of the episodes of the series "Poirot".

In addition to Malkovich, the BBC mini-series will feature Rupert Grint, the star of the Harry Potter franchise and the crime drama Big Score. He got the role of Inspector Crome. Andrew Buchan (All the Money in the World), Eamon Farren (Twin Peaks), Tara Fitzgerald (Game of Thrones), Bronwyn James (Courtesans) and Freya Mavor (The Lady with Glasses and with a gun in the car ").

Over the past few years, the BBC has been consistently pleasing fans of Agatha Christie's work with new television adaptations. During this time, mini-series "Trial of Innocence", "Witness for the Prosecution", "And There Was No One", as well as "Partners in Crime" were released. Sarah Phelps, who worked on the first three projects, will write the script for Alphabetical Murders.
