Step out, Barbie!
In the spring of 2014, news came from Hollywood that Sony had acquired the rights to a movie about the adventures of a Barbie doll from Mattel. According to The Wrap, the corporation will team up with Original Film to create a film about American Girl dolls.The first dolls of the "American Girl" series appeared on the shelves of toy stores in 1986. It is curious that the set with the 46-centimeter doll included colorful booklets that taught young American women the history of their country. In 1998, the rights to the popular brand passed to Mattel, which was thinking about expanding the franchise. In 2004, she struck a deal with Julia Roberts' studio and directed several films about the adventures of American girls. Almost all of these pictures eventually went straight to video. The only exception was the comedy "Keith Kittredge: The Mystery of the American Girl," starring Abigail Breslin. The tape made it to the big screens and earned good reviews in the press, but earned only $ 17.7 million on a budget of $ 10 million.
