Review of the movie Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Beyond the Book

As it turned out, Jules Verne was not the only person who had an idea of the most extraordinary mysteries of our planet: in addition to him, Robert Louis Stevenson and Jonathan Swift were also devoted to world secrets. But this Then, in the now distant nineteenth century, and Now, in our time, Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) caught a coded signal from his missing grandfather. He deciphered the signal, not without the help of his good-natured stepfather (Dwayne Johnson), after which, headlong, together with all the same stepfather, he went in search of the Mysterious Island – described by the famous science fiction classic in his novel of the same name, a piece of the forgotten land lost in the Pacific Ocean.

The sequel `` Travel to the Center of the Earth '' has been released – without Fraser and dinosaurs, but with " Rock " and a variety of submarines and dead cities. The sequel came out even more childish and naive, compared to the first part – just as serious as the original was. The classics are not just modernized – it became covered with a thick layer of commercial dust, became velvety and immoderately soft. I am certainly not saying that this is bad - it's just business, as they say. But, nevertheless, not to the same degree!

At the same time, `` Journey 2 '' very suitable for a children's audience – for nothing that it is also designed for her. `` Kind '', an exciting and colorful action, is unlikely to leave indifferent any of the young viewers. Moreover, even despite the outrageously ingenious plot, their parents are also unlikely to talk about the hours spent as a waste of time.

Speaking of colorfulness, one cannot fail to mention the visual effects that have noticeably evolved since the first part. In some places, however, they are not so hot, but for the most part (especially large-scale scenes) are capable of at least a little, but impress. And the finale is really an extravaganza of colors, consisting of abundant flows of lava and pieces of soil and soil ground each other.

Here, however, there is one unpleasant but – stereoscopy. In this movie, 3D deals with only one - and ndash; discrediting oneself, and all for the notorious markup on the ticket. The creators managed to fit entire scenes in the movie to this format, but, alas, they did not bother to take care of at least some how it will all look in finished form on the screen. The natural result – an attempt to immerse viewers in the picture even more turned out to be an excellent reason for ill-wishers to once again criticize the format so popular recently. And all this looks especially bitter against the background of luxurious and luscious landscapes, the potential of which this very 3D could reveal even more than the operator did.

Dwayne Johnson can be distinguished from the actors. How does he manage (with his dimensions!) To give the impression of a divine dandelion – almost a mystery. And even remembering his role, say, in the same fifth `` Fast and the Furious '', you are completely amazed at – no wonder he still went to the actors. A kind of lump – and in the movie turns out to be almost the most reverent (but not gentle, that's for sure) a character. And this is not to mention his smile, looking at which it becomes simply impossible to restrain a smile. In general, it turned out to be an exemplary brutal comedian (hello, "Tooth Fairy"), delighting only with his presence.

As for the humor in the movie as a whole, unfortunately, everything here is frankly … none. Not bad, but not good either. This is just humor, aimed mainly at those who are not yet familiar with the various templates of this genre. In this regard, almost everything on the screen has already been present in other movies before, and more than once.

"Mysterious Island" you can watch, but only if you are initially tuned in to something immoderately frivolous and simple. To the point that the brains can be turned off even at the entrance to the hall. And, at the same time, it is also advisable to forget all the adventure tapes you have seen before. And read books about unusual travels to superexotic countries. Only if all these simple conditions are met, you will get what, in fact, was intended by the producers of the movie – meaningless, but full of positive emotions embodiment of the powerful fantasy of the famous Frenchman.
