Canadian company IMAX and Belgian company Barco, specializing in the creation of imaging systems, have entered into an agreement to jointly develop a new series of digital projectors based on laser technology. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The partners expect the new projection systems to provide a lighter picture on giant screens and will consume significantly less energy than existing ones. The contract was concluded for a period of seven years, but in 2013 the partners intend to present the first samples.
