Jesse Eisenberg will play in the movie adaptation of Dostoevsky's story
The Social Network Star Jesse Eisenberg will star in the movie adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Double. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The plot of the literary source is built around the titular adviser Yakov Petrovich Golyadkin, who leads an unremarkable life. One day he makes a frightening discovery: someone absolutely like him is trying to take the place of Yakov Petrovich in the circle of his friends, relatives and in the service. And this person, despite the physical resemblance, is his complete opposite. The story was first published in 1846, but then, on the advice of Belinsky, Dostoevsky edited the text, significantly reducing it. The final version saw the light only in 1866. Whether the movie will be a literal adaptation, or its action will be carried over to modern times, is not yet specified. Mia Wasikowska will also play in the movie.
