The heirs of the British writer Tolkien are demanding $ 220 million from New Line and Time Warner, allegedly owed to them from the profits received from the rental of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. According to Bloomberg, all attempts to settle the dispute out of court were unsuccessful, the heirs intend to regain all rights to the movie adaptation of the writer's works, including The Hobbit.

This turn of events is quite real, and if the court takes the side of the plaintiffs, the movie adaptation of The Hobbit may not take place.

Recall that the first movie of the dilogy is due to be released in 2011. Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro are finalizing the script for the movie.
