Warner Bros. Film Studio after five years of litigation, she entered into an amicable settlement with the foundation that controls the legacy of British writer J.R.R. Tolkien and HarperCollins. As reported by The Wrap, the parties decided to abandon mutual claims, other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Recall that the conflict arose in 2012. The Tolkien Foundation accused Warner Bros. and its studio New Line in violation of copyright and the terms of the contract governing the creation of movies based on the works of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. In particular, the plaintiffs argued that Warner Bros. illegally disposed of the rights to images from movie adaptations, granting permission to use the latter to video game manufacturers and online casino creators. As compensation, the plaintiffs claimed $ 80 million.

Note that this was not the first trial of the writer's heirs with the Warner Bros. studio. In 2009, to begin movieing The Hobbit, the studio was forced to make an agreement with a foundation that had previously accused it of hiding millions of dollars in profits from the Lord of the Rings movie distribution. The terms of that deal were also not disclosed.
