The CW will be making a television adaptation of the 2006 feature movie The Illusionist, starring Edward Norton. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

In the center of the plot of the detective melodrama by Neil Berger, based on the story of Stephen Millhauser, a magician (Norton) who uses his abilities to win the love of a woman (Jessica Biel) from the upper class ... The TV version of The CW is set in New York at the turn of the century and follows a famous illusionist who returns home after spending ten years in prison. He finds out that his wife married a ruthless crime boss, who at one time threw him behind bars. Joining a criminal organization the illusionist comes up with cunning plans for robberies and climbs the career ladder in the gang. Its purpose is – topple the boss within the organization and reclaim the love of your life.

Former True Blood showrunner Mark Hadis will write the script for CBS Television Studios. The executive producers will be Ben Silverman and Bob Yari. The Illusionist earned $ 87 million worldwide and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Cinematography category.

The Illusionist remake has expanded the list of television adaptations previously announced by other channels: Bolshoi , "Minority Report", "If the mother-in-law is a monster ..." (Fox); Rush Hour (CBS); "Midnight Heat", "She needs it badly" (Showtime); "Difficult Child", "Breakthrough" (NBC).
