Casting for the Walking Dead spin-off has begun (Topic)

Frank Dillane, familiar from his role as Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Alicia Debnam Carey (Dance Academy) have been confirmed to pilot the upcoming Walking Dead companion series. This is reported by the publication Deadline.

The events in the yet-to-be-named spin-off take place in the same zombie-infected universe as in The Walking Dead. The plot revolves around a divorced male teacher and a female methodologist. Dillane and Debnam Carey will play the roles of the children of a woman – a son with drug problems and an ambitious daughter, respectively.

AMC is positioning the upcoming series – if the production of the whole season is ordered – as an independent show, which should shed light on the events of the zombie apocalypse taking place in other parts of the world. Perhaps in places where the number of survivors still exceeds the number of infected. The script for the pilot was written by the author of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson, who is appointed executive producer and showrunner of the TV project. The series is also executive produced by Kirkman, Gail Ann Heard and David Elpert. The pilot will be directed by Adam Davidson (Breakfast Date). The pilot will be produced by AMC Studios.

The next full-length project with Dillane's participation is Ron Howard's drama "In the Heart of the Sea". In August 2014, the thriller Into the Storm was released worldwide, in which Australian Debnam Carey played a supporting role.
