Cliff Curtis confirmed to star in The Walking Dead spin-off
Cliff Curtis ("Training Day", "Criminal Liaisons") was cast in the lead male role in the pilot of the companion series "The Walking Dead", based on the comic strip by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The as-yet-untitled AMC series, which at the time of this writing is at the pilot stage, explores the same zombie-infected universe as in The Walking Dead, only in other locations and time frames. Curtis will play the main protagonist of the series - Sean Cabrera - a teacher who shares custody of his son with his ex-wife Andrea. Sean is a good person, trying to do the right thing with everyone who gets in his way. For the role of the titular female character – Nancy Tomkins – a methodologist at the same school that Sean works at, is currently casting. According to the sources of The Hollywood Reporter, Anna Torv ("Fringe") was initially considered for the role of Nancy, however, the actress is no longer interested in this. Curtis joined Frank Dillane ("Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince ") and Alicia Debnam Carey (" Into the Woods ... "), who will play the roles of Nancy's children – the son of Nick, who has drug problems, and the ambitious daughter Ashley, respectively. The script for the pilot was written by The Walking Dead author Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson, who is the executive producer and showrunner of the TV project. The series is also executive produced by Kirkman, Gail Ann Heard and David Elpert. The pilot will be directed by Adam Davidson (Breakfast Date). The pilot will be produced by AMC Studios.
