American studios and distributors have abandoned physical media
America's largest movie studios and major movie theater chains have entered a new era of digital movie distribution. According to Variety, from now on, Hollywood movie projects and all promotional materials for them will not be delivered to distributors in physical media, but transmitted as digital copies via satellites. The corresponding agreement is already signed between Regal, AMC and Cinemark and Lionsgate, Disney, Paramount, Warners and Universal Studios. In the near future, similar agreements will be concluded with the movie companies Sony and Fox. The Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition will be responsible for the transfer of materials. The new format of cooperation will also allow live broadcasts of all kinds of events related to cinema in cinemas.
