Titanic protagonist could have survived the crash
The main character of the movie "Titanic" Jack Dawson had all the chances to escape from the crash if he and his girlfriend showed a little savvy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is the conclusion reached by Jamie Heineman and Adam Savage, hosts of the Discovery TV MythBusters popular science program, conducted a corresponding experiment. Their first attempt to fit on a replica of the wooden structure that saved Rose in the movie's finale ended in failure. As in the movie, the improvised raft was flipped or submerged under the weight of two bodies. However, after researchers managed to use a single life jacket as an additional float, tying it under the bottom of the raft, the structure was provided with sufficient buoyancy to withstand both leaders. Heineman and Savage presented the results of their experiment to James Cameron. The director agreed with their conclusions, but stated that the script assumed the death of Jack.
