Shameless Renewed for Season Six
Showtime has announced the renewal of Shameless for a sixth season and has commissioned the production of the first season of Comedy Happiness. Channel President David Nevins announced this during the Television Critics Association exhibition. His words are quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. "Shameless" starring Emmy Rossum returned for its fifth season on January 11, 2015. The fourth season on various platforms attracted an average of about 5.7 million viewers per week. A dramedy by John Wells produced by Warner Bros. Television was finally able to gain critical attention, and William H. Macy was honored with two 2015 Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations. Production for the sixth season will begin later this year with an eye to a premiere in 2016. As for the series "Like Happiness", it was originally commissioned for production with Philip Seymour Hoffman in the title role. Due to the tragic death of the actor in February 2014, the production of the comedy was suspended. Showtime later re-shot the pilot, in which Steve Coogan replaced the deceased actor, and Bradley Whitford – retired from the project Reese Ifans. The black comedy about the search for happiness will premiere on April 26 and is on the schedule immediately after the seventh final season of "Sister Jackie". It will be followed by the premiere of the second season of John Logan's "Cheap Horror" series.
