Christie's will sell the night at Downton Abbey Castle
Christie's Auction House is partnering with the owners of Highclere Castle, which features some of the scenes for Downton Abbey, in an online charity auction to raise funds for the renovation of military facilities as part of the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the auction for the night in the castle starts at $ 16,800 and will last until August 14, 2014. A night visit to the castle includes the use of three of the eleven rooms on the first floor of Highler. While most of the alcove scenes are movieed at London's Ealing Studios, the bedroom of Arundel Castle; served as a room for Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), and the bedroom `` Marcia '', famous for its four-poster bed, became the room for Lady Cora (Elizabeth McGovern). Staying in the castle also includes the opportunity to dine with the owners of private property – Counts of Carnarvon. A week earlier it became known that scenes from the forthcoming fifth season of the series, which will be released this fall, are being movieed in another ancient castle – Alnike, known to Potter fans as Hogwarts.
