Castle star Stana Katik has signed a new contract to play a sequel to the show, while series creator Andrew W. Marlowe and his wife, executive producer Terry Miller, have left the project. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The ABC channel extended the procedural, starring Nathan Fillion, for an eighth season on Friday, May 8, 2015. Writers Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley replace retired David Amann as showrunners for the upcoming season.

As for Marlowe, he will focus on work on a potential Castle spin-off and will not host contributing to the development of Season 8.

Tuesday morning, May 12, Marlowe & Miller, left on their Twitter page a message to fans of the series, thanking them for their dedication to the show and announcing their retirement after seven seasons.

ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee confirmed that the eighth season of Castle will not be the latter, and stressed that the channel's series such as Grey's Anatomy and Castle are "vibrant brands" with "passionate audiences" and that he would be delighted if they "went on for years." p>
