Sony Pictures has announced the premiere of a feature-length animated movie about Spider-Man. According to the studio's official Twitter page, the project will be presented to viewers on December 21, 2018, and will be directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey.

The difference from other adaptations of the Spider-Man comics will be that the superhero will not be Peter Parker, but Miles Morales. Recall that this half-African, half-Hispanic teenager was first introduced in the Marvel comic series "Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man" in 2011 after Parker's "death".

According to the editor-in-chief of Marvel, Excel Alonso, the idea of introducing a black Spider-Man to readers arose when it became obvious that Barack Obama was winning the US presidential election. Later, Miles Morales and Peter Parker fought the villains together.

It is worth noting that Avatar 2 and, most likely, the cartoon Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives and 40 Thieves will also start on the day announced by Sony Pictures.

One of the creators of the future cartoon, Peter Ramsey, has an animated fairy tale "Keepers of Dreams", which was released in 2012.
