Streaming service Netflix and BBC are adapting Richard Adams' classic novel "Watership Down". The four-part animated miniseries will be produced by 42 and Biscuit Films. The miniseries will air in the UK on BBC One and will premiere on Netflix worldwide. In the upcoming TV project, the stars of the first magnitude are involved as voice actors: James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton and John Boyega. This is reported by Deadline.

The novel-fairy tale by Richard Adams, which won the love of readers of all ages, was first published in 1972, and since then has sold more than 50 million copies. The book tells about the adventures of a group of rabbits, who left their home in hopes of finding a safer place. On the way, they were faced with numerous dangers, but courage and mutual assistance helped either to achieve the intended goal.

In 1978, Martin Rosen made his own script for the animated movie The Inhabitants of the Hills, which is considered one of the bloodiest and most violent cartoons of all time. It was dubbed by John Hurt and Richard Brears.

The miniseries was written by Tom Bidwell ("My Mad Diary") and directed by Noam Murro ("300: Rise of an Empire"). The CG animation team will be led by Peter Dodd (Fantastic Mr. Fox) and Hugo Sands.
