Warner Bros. Film Studio and DC have selected a writer for a new adaptation of the Green Lantern comic series. According to Deadline, this is David S. Goyer, who previously wrote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ghost Rider 2 and Constantine.
Goyer is said to have been instructed to turn the Green Lantern into some sort of Lethal Weapon, adjusted for space action. As an officer of the Green Lantern Corps, viewers will be able to see not only the most popular of them - Hal Jordon, but also the black John Stewart, who appeared in a small spin-off comic book series. Sources clarify that it is around Stewart's relationship with Jordan and the rest of the "lanterns" that the plot of the picture will be built.
Recall that Warner Bros. already tried to movie this episode in 2011. The movie, starring Ryan Reynolds, flopped at the box office, grossing just $ 230 million on a $ 200 million production budget.
Whether the studio is interested in bringing Reynolds to work on a new project is still unknown. The movie, tentatively titled Green Lantern Corps, is slated for release in 2020.
