Studio WB has begun its search for the Green Lantern
The first month of the new year brings the second good news for the comic book fans about Green Lantern . Last week, we reported that Green Lantern Corps had been co-written by David S. Goyer and Justin B. Rhodes, and now The Wrap has broadcast that Warner Bros. studio already has an impressive list of contenders for the role of the superhero Hal Jordan .Jake Gyllenhaal, Armie Hammer, James Marsden, Bradley Cooper, Joel McHale, Tom Cruise, and even Ryan Reynolds reportedly hit the pencil on the WB bosses. The latter has already played Jordan in Green Lantern, which suffered a crushing fiasco at the box office five and a half years ago and received a humiliating 26% rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes . Last year, the superhero action movie Deadpool proved that movies starring Reynolds could be box office hits. The resumption of cooperation with Ryan could bring WB a lot of dividends, but in this case, the studio will have to remind viewers once again about their failed film in 2011.  Bradley Cooper was considered one of the main competitors of Reynolds in the fight for the role of Hal Jordan in Green Lantern . From the looks of it, WB 's management is poised to give the actor another chance to play the popular superhero. Much will depend on whether Cooper's contract with Marvel will ban roles in the DC MCU.  Earlier it became known that " Green Lantern Corps " will be an action movie in the spirit of "Lethal Weapon", in which Hal will partner with John Stewart . Many fans of DC immediately had a theory that the latter would appear as an experienced superhero who would have to take patronage over the young Jordan . In this regard, it seems quite logical that WB decided to take a closer look at the candidatures of 30-year-old Hammer and 36-year-old Gyllenhaal . However, the presence in the shortlist of candidates for the role of Hal the name of 54-year-old Tom Cruise makes it clear that the creators of the MCU DC have not yet fully decided on the age and dynamics of the relationship between the main characters of the story.  The Green Lantern Corps is scheduled to premiere on June 19, 2020 , but insiders do not rule out that the first appearance of Hal Jordan and John Stewart in the MCU DC will take place in one of the Justice League films.
