Syfy renews Expansion for a second season (Topic)

Channel Syfy renewed the futuristic series "Expansion" for a second season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the thirteen-episode sequel will be released in early 2017.

The series, produced and funded by the Alcon Television Group, takes place two hundred years in the future. In the center of the story are detective Joseph Miller (Thomas Jane) and spaceship officer Jim Holden (Stephen Straight), who are jointly searching for the missing girl. As they roam the universe, they uncover a massive conspiracy.

The series is based on the popular book series of the same name by Daniel Abraham and Ty Frank, writing under the pseudonym James S. A. Corey. The first episode of the drama, which aired online three weeks before the official premiere on November 23, 2015, watched 4. 5 million people. The series' debut on Syfy on December 14 attracted 1.6 million people.

"Expansion is firing from all guns and fans among viewers and critics, confirming Syfy's promise of a smart and provocative sci-fi show. We look forward to the continuation of the story in the second season, "Syfy President Dave Howe said in a statement.
