Hugh Jackman is offered the role of Odyssey
Lionsgate Film Studio and director Francis Lawrence have found their Odyssey for a new adaptation of Homer's immortal poem. According to Variety, the lead role has been offered to Australian actor Hugh Jackman. Earlier it became known that Lawrence's contract also involves shooting several sequels if the first movie is successful. Most likely, similar conditions will be offered to Jackman. The script for the movie will be prepared by Peter Craig and Suzanne Collins, with whom Lawrence worked on the adaptation of the last two episodes of The Hunger Games. Recall that the work attributed to the ancient Greek poet was written around the 8th century BC. It tells the story of the return of the king of Ithaca, Odysseus from the Trojan War, and his adventures on the way home. During his travels, he meets many mythical creatures, for example, the Cyclops Polyphemus, the sorceress Kirki, the demigod Aeolus and others. The story is told on behalf of Odysseus himself. The poem has survived more than one adaptation, including by the USA director Andrei Konchalovsky. The shooting of the new movie will most likely start at the beginning of 2016.
