Bruce Boxleitner confirms the death of Project Tron

Bruce Boxleitner confirmed the final "death" of the project called "Tron", the sequel of which, released in 2010, did not justify the investment. The actor's words are quoted by SlashFilm.

"It breaks my heart, but I understand that time is ticking. Disney no longer wants to move in this direction. The animation series has been promising, but they are not interested in its continuation. They no longer need it. Now they have Star Wars and Marvel, he said.

Boxleitner clarified that he himself is not interested in continuing the franchise. "This does not interest me anymore. I am done with this and intend to move on," added the actor.

Recall that at the end of May 2015 it became known that the Walt Disney studio refused to produce the third part of the movie. The reason for the closure of the project was not specified, but, most likely, the studio management considered the fees of the second series unsatisfactory, which earned only $ 400 million at the worldwide box office with a production budget of $ 170 million, and thus failed to recoup all the costs of the creation and advertising campaign.

The main roles were played by Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett, Michael Sheen and other actors.
