The US Writers Guild has unveiled a list of nominees for its annual award. 12 thousand members of the guild took part in the voting. 61 and 51 movie projects, respectively, competed to get into the two main categories - "Best Original Screenplay" and "Best Adapted Screenplay".

The movies "The Spy Bridge", "The Assassin", "In the Spotlight", "The Voice of the Streets" and "The Girl Without Complexes" will be nominated for the Guild Award for Best Original Screenplay. The Shortcut, Carol, The Martian, Steve Jobs and Trumbo will compete for the Best Adapted Screenplay award. The awards ceremony will take place on 13 February 2016.

Note that, as a rule, the winners of the US Writers Guild Award then apply for the Academy Awards. So, the winner of 2014 in the nomination "Best Original Screenplay" - the picture "The Grand Budapest Hotel" was nominated for the "Oscar 2015", and the winner of the Guild Prize in the nomination "Best Adapted Screenplay" - the drama "The Imitation Game" was awarded the Academy Award in a similar category.
