The US Writers Guild has announced the winners of its 2014 award. Best Original Screenplay was won by The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson), challenged by Boyhood (Richard Linklater), The Fox Hunter (Dan Futterman, E. Max Fry), Stringer (Dan Gilroy) and Obsession (Damien Chazelle).

The Imitation Game (Graham Moore) received the award for Best Adapted Screenplay. American Sniper (Jason Dean Hall, Chris Kyle), Gone Girl (Gillian Flynn), Guardians of the Galaxy (James Gunn, Nicole Perlman, Dan Abnett, Andy Lenning), and Wild (Nick Hornby ).

In the Drama Series category, a Guild Award went to True Detectives (HBO). Other nominations include The Right Wife (CBS), House of Cards (Netflix), Mad Men (AMC) and Game of Thrones (HBO).

In the nomination "Best Comedy Series Screenplay" the winner was the TV project "Louis" (FX). His rivals were Orange Is the New Black (Netflix), Silicon Valley (HBO), Obvious (Amazon Prime) and VIP (HBO).

True Detectives were also favorites in the Best New Series Screenplay category.
