John Ridley to direct detective drama for ABC
ABC continues its fruitful collaboration with Academy Award winner John Ridley ("12 Years a Slave"). According to The Hollywood Reporter, citing ABC, the network acquired from Ridley the pilot script for the detective series "Presence". "Presence" is described as a television project shot in the style of the classic detective genre, adjusted for time. In the center of the plot – former Army Riot Suppression Operative Present Foster, who embarks on a career as an unlicensed private investigator in Los Angeles. As with the critically acclaimed anthology American Crime, which was recently renewed by ABC for a second season, Ridley will write the script himself, will direct and executive produce the project through its International Famous Players Radio Picture Corporation.
