IMAX will give all its screens to Star Wars 7 for a month

IMAX will release Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens all of its screens in North America and nearly all outside of it for a month from its premiere.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, these are the terms of an unprecedented agreement concluded with the creators of the picture, as well as the largest American networks Regal, AMC and Cinemark. In this case, we are talking not only about the IMAX halls located in individual cinemas, shopping centers, but also museums. In total, there are about 400 rooms in North America and over 400 outside.

Thus, the movie projects of other studios, which will be released in December 2015, will have to leave the giant IMAX screens by the time the seventh episode of Star Wars kicks off. This applies, in particular, to the painting "In the Heart of the Sea", which will premiere on December 11. If the first episode of the new trilogy is successful, its dominance on the IMAX network could continue beyond the first month.

Recall that at the time of this writing, the absolute record ($ 44.2 million) in receipts for the premiere weekend in the IMAX network belonged to the movie "Jurassic World". Star Wars 7 will easily improve this achievement.
