IMAX is going to make its own movies

IMAX intends to engage in its own moviemaking and other content creation, so as not to miss out on benefits during the so-called "low season". According to The Wrap, the head of the Canadian company Greg Foster spoke about this at the Media, Communications and Entertainment conference in Los Angeles.

As an example, Foster cited August 2015, when there were no blockbusters that brought significant profit in the world box office. "We had three to four weeks of lost profits," said the head of IMAX. According to him, IMAX intends to "provide consumers with top quality entertainment content for at least 52 weeks a year." "If this requires us to master our own production, we will be happy to do so," added Greg Foster.

Note that 2015 was a hugely successful year for IMAX. The network of cinemas showed the highest grossing movie projects of the year, including "Jurassic World" and "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron". The company's revenue grew by 83 percent over the previous year.

At the end of 2015, IMAX will have another major release, Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens. Earlier it was reported that the company will provide the movie with all its screens in North America and beyond.
