Pierce Brosnan will star in the movie adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's novel "Across the River, in the Shade of Trees." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Martin Campbell, who has already collaborated with Brosnan on the movie "Golden Eye", has been appointed director of the movie.

The work was published in 1950. In the center of the plot is American Colonel Richard Cantwell, who arrives in Venice shortly after the end of World War II. For the main character, this is probably the last opportunity to visit his beloved city, since he already had two heart attacks, and the doctors promised that he would not survive the third. Here Cantwell meets 19-year-old Renata, a member of an ancient aristocratic family, and his love for her becomes his chance for renewal.

It is planned that the shooting of the movie will start in the fall of 2016 in Italy. The terms of work on the project and a possible rental schedule have not yet been specified.

Recall that in 2015, viewers could see Pierce Brosnan in a thriller called "No Exit". As for Martin Campbell, his immediate plans are to shoot the movie "Hunter-Killer", which will tell about how the US special services are saving the USA president from conspirators-military.
