Streaming service Netflix has commissioned the production of the action-adventure-drama "Frontier," starring Jason Momoa ("Game of Thrones"). A six-part television project about the fur trade at the end of the eighteenth century will be released in 2016. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The drama is directed by Peter Blackie and Robert Blackie ("The Doyle Affair"), with Brad Peyton ("The San Andreas Rift") as director. He and Jeff Firson will share the executive producing roles. Production will be handled by Shot Production and Factory Backwards in partnership with Discovery Channel and Netflix.

The cast includes Landon Liboiron, Alan Armstrong, Allan Hawco and Zoe Boyle.

The drama will be told from different perspectives, and the events unfold in a world where business negotiations are often resolved with the help of firearms. "Frontier" will also explore the uneasy relationship between indigenous tribes and Europeans, which led to bloody conflicts.

Momoa will play Declan Harp, an ambitious, confident, charismatic man of unbridled passions with a reputation as a ruthless merchant driven by lust and vengeance.

Filming for the series begins this month in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Cornwall in the UK.
