Home screening service presented on the day of the premiere

One of the founders of the social network Facebook, Sean Parker, has introduced a new premium screening service that will allow you to watch movies at home on the day of their theatrical premiere. This is reported by the Variety edition.

A startup called Screening Room offers the following scheme for interaction between distributors and end consumers. After installing a special set-top box, which costs about $ 150, the user gets the opportunity to order movies for release. A 48-hour "rental" of the painting will cost $ 50.

$ 20 of this amount will go to the distributor, who also undertakes to provide the recipient of the service with two free tickets for any session. This, in turn, will allow cinemas to earn money by selling related products such as snacks and drinks. The movie studios will also receive $ 20, which would bring Screening Room itself about $ 10.

Representatives of the company have allegedly already held negotiations with most of the Hollywood majors and even secured the support of one of the largest theater networks in the world AMC.

It should be noted that attempts to introduce such premium viewing systems were made earlier, but each time the initiative met with active resistance from distributors.
