Amy Adams starred in the thriller Sharp Objects
American Scam star Amy Adams will star in the movie adaptation of Gillian Flynn's Sharp Objects. The series, acquired by Entertainment One and Blumhouse Productions for cable and streaming services, has been directed by Jean-Marc Vallee of the Dallas Buyers Club. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The main character of the 2006 novel, reporter Camilla Priker (Adams), has just been discharged from a psychiatric clinic after a short stay in it. She is entrusted with a difficult editorial task - she must go to her tiny hometown to conduct a journalistic investigation into the murder of two ten-year-old girls. For many years, Camilla has had little contact with her hypochondriacal mother and half-sister she barely knows - a beautiful 13-year-old girl who has control over the entire city. Now in her former bedroom at her family's Victorian mansion, Camilla identifies with the young victims, perhaps a little too much. Haunted by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological riddles of her own past if she wants to get the story and survive this return home. The show was written by Marty Noxon ("Unreal"), who will share executive producer with Flynn and Valle. Noxon has also been appointed showrunner for the series.
