The plot is centered on the war between the Capulet and Montague families, who are experiencing the death of Romeo and Juliet. In the book, in order to end the conflict, it was decided to send down the aisle the most suitable groom and Romeo's best friend, Benvolio, from the Montague side. and Juliet's older cousin, Rosaline, the girl Romeo was once in love with. Rimes, Mitchell and Betsy Beers will share executive producer responsibilities.

For ShondaLand, "Still Star-Crossed" will be the fourth project the company has sold to ABC this season. A script for a drama about the "brides of Christ" is in the works; a military medical soap opera about the events in Baghdad; and the comedy of divorce "Splitsville".
