Lionsgate will join forces with Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment, as well as 1821 Media for the movie adaptation of the graphic novel Romeo and Juliet: War. This is reported by the Variety edition. The comic, which has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest (by sheet size) graphic novel, was created by Stan Lee in collaboration with Terry Douglas, Max Work and illustrator Skan Sriswan. The classic tragedy of William Shakespeare is taken to a high-tech future in which the empire of Verona and two rival clans of super-soldiers: the Montagues and the Capulets exist. The sudden love of Romeo and Juliet is hindered not only by warring relatives, but also by creatures much more dangerous and deadly. The comic was published in 2012 and was included in the New York Times bestseller list. "What a pleasure it is to finally announce our partnership with Lionsgate. The story of Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorites, I can't wait to see our version of the classic on screen," Stan Lee said in a statement. Terms of work on the project have not yet been specified. Also, at the time of this writing, the director of the movie and the leading actors have not been selected.
