Jared Harris (Mad Men) returns to AMC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will star in a new anthology channel "Terror". In addition to him, Kiaran Hinds ("Game of Thrones"), Paul Redy ("Utopia") and Adam Nagaitis ("Houdini and Doyle") will join the television project.

Action in the series based on the bestseller of the same name by Dan Simmons, takes place in 1847, when an expedition of the Royal Navy led by John Franklin on two ships – "Erebus" and "Terror" - sets off in search of a sea route that passes through the Arctic Ocean and connects the Atlantic with the Pacific Ocean. During the journey, the crews of both ships are attacked by an unknown predator, and a fierce struggle for survival begins.

Harris will play Francis Crozier, Captain of the Terror and Deputy Commander of the Expedition. He is a brilliant sailor and captain, but also an Irishman who reached his "glass ceiling" in the British Royal Navy and gave up on its splendor and politics. The role will return Harris to AMC, where he played a key role in Mad Men for three seasons and received an Emmy nomination.

Hinds has been confirmed for the role of Sir John Franklin, expedition leader; Redy will play Henry Goodseer, and Nagaitis will play; Cornelius Hickey. As previously reported, Tobiash Menzes (Outlander) will play Erebus captain James Fitzjames.

AMC has commissioned production of the series in March this year. Dave Kaiganich will write the script and act as showrunner with Su Hugh. The ten-episode drama will begin production in Budapest this winter and will debut in 2017.
